Arboriculture is the cultivation, management, and study of individual trees, shrubs, vines, and other perennial woody plants. It is both a practice and a science. It includes municipal, utility, commercial and private property practices in urban, rural and suburban areas.

Environmental Education is the teaching of individuals and communities in transitioning to a society that is knowledgeable of the environment and its associated problems, aware of solutions to these problems, and motivated to solve them. Our focus is in the areas of Arbor Day and Earth Day programs as well as tree and shrub planting, care and maintenance training.

Forest Entomology and Pathology is the research of both biotic and abiotic maladies affecting the health of a forest ecosystem, primarily fungal pathogens and their insect vectors.

Landscape Design and Architecture is a multidisciplinary field, incorporating aspects of botany, horticulture, the fine arts, architecture, industrial design, soil sciences, environmental psychology, geography, and ecology.

Turf Management is a specialized area of expertise developed in the golf course industry, but to some degree anyone with a lawn is practicing turf management.

Wetland Mitigation is the preservation, enhancement, restoration or creation of a wetland, stream, or habitat conservation area which offsets, or compensates for, expected adverse impacts to similar nearby ecosystems. The goal is to replace the function and value of specific habitats and ecosystem services that would be adversely affected by a proposed activity or project.
